Virtual Discussion Groups for the Spring Semester

We currently have three book groups underway.  You can join us for any of these groups, which meet via Zoom each week.  E-mail for the link.

  • The Short Stories of Flannery O'Connor
Her writing is best-known for its explorations of religious themes and southern racial issues, and for combining the comic with the tragic.

    • Meets on Mondays at 9:00pm EDT beginning on April 6

    • First week's reading can be found here

  • The Long Loneliness by Dorothy Day
A compelling autobiographical testament to the spiritual pilgrimage of a woman who, in her own words, dedicated herself "to bring[ing] about the kind of society where it is easier to be good.’

    • Meets on Tuesdays at 4:00pm EDT beginning on April 7

    • First week's reading can be found here.

  • Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist by Brant Pitre
Pitre explores ancient Jewish beliefs about the Passover of the Messiah, the miraculous manna from heaven, and the mysterious Bread of the Presence. As he shows, these three keys - the Passover, the manna, and the Bread of the Presence - have the power to unlock the original meaning of the Eucharistic words of Jesus.

    • Meets on Thursdays at 1:00pm EDT beginning on April 9.

    • First week's reading can be found here.
