The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (Jn 1:5)

Background: This photo is of Mont St. Michel, in Normandy, France. It's an island monastery founded at the site where an apparition of St. Michael occurred. During this time of darkness and distress, let us seek refuge in the fact that Jesus is our light, who has overcome the world (Jn 16:33), and who is always with us (Mt 28:20).

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael the Archangel,  defend us in battle.  Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,  and do thou,  O Prince of the heavenly hosts,  by the power of God,  thrust into hell Satan,  and all the evil spirits,  who prowl about the world  seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
