BUILD TOGETHER
Capital Campaign for the Brown-RISD Catholic Center
WE'VE REACHED OUR GOAL!
The past two years have been an extraordinary journey, marked by generosity, gratitude, connection, and vision. We are so incredibly grateful for all who contributed to the campaign, and humbled by the ongoing love for and dedication to the BRCC that so many of you have. We're excited to share the final results of the campaign with you:
$4,047,653.03 was raised for the Catholic Center
264 donors contributed to the campaign
Since launching Build Together in 2019, we have accomplished an enormous amount. We have:
-
Exceeded our ambitious $4M campaign goal
-
Purchased our ideal property, just on the edge of campus, in January 2020
-
Installed a fire safety system, including new sprinklers, completed in March 2021
-
Renovated the building to meet ADA standards, completed in March 2021
-
Solidified plans to turn the garage into a permanent, beautiful chapel. Construction will begin this summer, with a hopeful end date of Fall 2021
-
Started a Catholic endowment that will continue to provide for the ongoing maintenance of the Center for years to come
-
Opened the Catholic Center to students, from formal events such as a Fish Fry (pre-covid) to casual offerings such as study and social space
In the short time that we have had the Catholic Center open, and in the midst of covid restrictions and complications, the Center has already become a home-away-from-home for students where they can congregate and invite their peers even in this time of disconnection. We are so excited for this next phase in the life of the Brown-RISD Catholic Community!
Although the campaign is completed, there are still naming opportunities available at the Center. If you would like to make a special gift directly to support the Catholic Center, contact Fr. Edmund at edmund_mccullough@brown.edu
The Center has already been used for...
-
A Lenten fish fry that drew 70+ people, before covid sent students home from Brown & RISD
-
A day retreat for the student leaders
-
Bonfires to foster community in a time of disconnection
-
Casual gatherings between students to play games
-
Study space for both graduate and undergraduate students
-
Mass when we were unable to use Manning Chapel
-
Prayer during Holy Week
-
Countless one on one meetings with students
-
Prayer space in the small, temporary chapel before we construct a permanent chapel
